Ibiza & Formentera

Hippie coves, turquoise bays, and sunset anchorages — the Mediterranean's most relaxed sailing week.

Introduction

With the Ibiza Sailing Itinerary, travellers can delight in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, lay out on the soft sandy beaches, or they can immerse themselves in the very happening nightlife in Ibiza.

Ibiza’s brilliant ambience provides the perfect setting for a relaxing, fun and unique experience. Spend all day on the beach, or all evening in the club – whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it in Ibiza.

Multifaceted and marked by duality, Ibiza is an island with many personalities. As one of the few places in the world where visitors’ can find top-notch nightclubs amidst extraordinary natural beauty, and deep-rooted local tradition, Ibiza should be on everyone’s radar.

Like the rest of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza has been occupied by many different groups, like the Carthaginians, the Romans, and the Arabs – which has given the island a distinct culture. Appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, Ibiza Town Port, Dalt Vila, is a wonderfully preserved center of Ibizan history and heritage.

San Antonio, or Sant Antoni in Ibiza’s native Catalan, is a hub of activity. As the second largest town on the island, it is renowned for its nightlife and has been dubbed as, “the clubbing capital of the universe.” San Antonio is home to discotecas Es Paradis and Eden, and the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. If you’re looking for something a little quieter, San Antonio can still be fun. With a long strip of beach, known as the Sunset Strip, you can catch the beautiful Ibizan sunsets and check out the view across San Antonio Bay. The promenade is also a great place to have a relaxing drink and grab a bite to eat! With no nightclubs, Cala Tarida is a great place to catch some rays or some zzz’s. It is Ibiza’s longest and widest beach with fine white sand. And as Cala Tarida is south-facing you can enjoy the sunshine from morning until night. With plenty of bars, restaurants, and amenities, Cala Tarida is a very family-friendly stop as well! Recommended Restaurants and Activities: Cotton Beach Club, Carrer Posta de Sol 21, Cala Tarida, Illes Balears, Spain Cala Tarida → Es Pujols Moving to Formentera, the third day of your charter is devoted to Es Pujols.

Practical Details

Plan Your Spain Charter

Getting There

The best way to get to Ibiza is by plane. The island has an international airport, but if you can’t find a direct flight, try one of the three major airports in Spain – Madrid, Barcelona, or Palma de Mallorca. Between these three airports, you can get connecting flights from all of Europe, the UK, and the United States. If you’d like to take the scenic root, you can also take a ferry to Ibiza from Barcelona (8.5 hrs.), Valencia (5-6.5 hrs.), Dénia (3.5 hrs.) and Palma (4 hrs.).

Weather

The best weather for the Ibiza Sailing Itinerary is in the summer months, with July and August being the hottest at 26 °C. The high season starts in May and ends by October, but outside that time frame, Ibiza is still lovely. Early autumn will experience mostly the same temperate climate, but with a higher chance of rain. Springtime will be cooler, between 14-16 °C, but will feature lovely almond blossoms, and just enough sunshine.
